Smoky.

Urban Decay -

Naked Smoky Palette

So, if you have been living under a rock, you may not have hear that there's a brand-new Naked palette coming your way. Feast your eyes on Naked Smoky, an entire palette devoted to crafting a totally amazing and perfect smoky eye.
Now, I'm not usually someone who does smoky eye, however recently I have really been embracing it. I truly do think the main reason I never really did it was purely down to the fact I just didn't know how, and I never really knew what shadows to use to make it looks great. However, now that this little beauty is being realised (with cards which tell you exactly how to create different look), everyone will be able to achieve that fierce smoky eye look.
The newest addition to the Naked family lands on July 8 and has everything you love about Naked — wearable-yet-cool neutrals, gorgeous packaging, a amazing shade range, fantastic colour payoff — but with a few new twists in the format. Unlike Nakeds 1 through 3, which focused on specific colour stories e.g. Naked 1 was a bit more bronze-y, Naked 2 was more taupe-y, and Naked 3 was warm and rosy neutrals. Naked Smoky will span a range of colour families. It gives you a great range of neutrals — your basic matte shades, and then a mini collection of bronze, a mini collection of taupe, a mini collection of greys and blacks, and then the one eggplant. It's a variety of colour families you can dip into.
That's nine new shades and three exclusive ones, for those of you keeping track. The shadows are also arranged a bit differently too — instead of going from lightest to darkest, the brand has placed the mattes on one end and the shimmers on the opposite side (both going from lightest to darkest, but in opposite directions), meaning the palette has all the lighter shades on the outside and the darker shades on the interior. From what I can gather this has been done to make creating a smoky eye a bit more intuitive, grouping shades categorically rather than forcing you to think about your creation in terms of shades.
Also exclusive to the palette is a brand-new double-sided brush to aid you in your noble smoked-out quest. One side features the Tapered Crease Brush, which will help you apply shadow to the lid, define your crease, or blend out colours. The other side is the Smoky Smudger Brush, which is perfectly designed for highlighting the brow bone or inner corner of the eye, and great for smudging shadow on the lower lash line and even tight-lining.

I literally couldn't be more excited for this palette to come out. I was really hoping they would release a new Naked palette that a little different from the other three and I couldn't have asked for anything better then this beauty of a palette.

Summer reads!

I love reading, especially in summer. Mainly because during summer I go camping a lot, and there is nothing better then laying in the sun, a drink in one hand and a great book in the other. Therefore, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite books I have read recently.

Stitching Snow by R.C. Lewis
Her home planet is filled with violence and corruption at the hands of King Matthias and his wife as they attempt to punish her captors. The king will stop at nothing to get his beloved daughter back—but that’s assuming she wants to return at all.”
If you love and are looking for a science fiction fairy tale retelling, then I recommend Stitching Snow. Basically it is a Snow White retelling set against a space adventure, and with a lot of twists and turns, it was a little slow in some places but I can by pass them little bits. I know many people have compared this with The Lunar Chronicles, in my opinion its not as good as The Lunar Chronicles, however they were the first books I had read of this type, therefore that is why its still such a favorite of mine.

Beware the Wild by Natalie C. Parker
"It's an oppressively hot and sticky morning in June when Sterling and her brother, Phin, have an argument that compels him to run into the town swamp—the one that strikes fear in all the residents of Sticks, Louisiana. Phin doesn't return. Instead, a girl named Lenora May climbs out, and now Sterling is the only person in Sticks who remembers her brother ever existed."
I cannot explain how much I enjoyed this book, it was totally different to anything I have read for a while and it had me gripped straight away! If you want something a little dark and a little twisted this is the book for you!

Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell
“We're waiting for you to come and play. Dunvegan School for Girls has been closed for many years. Converted into a family home, the teachers and students are long gone. But they left something behind...Sophie arrives at the old schoolhouse to spend the summer with her cousins. Brooding Cameron with his scarred hand, strange Lilias with a fear of bones and Piper, who seems just a bit too good to be true. And then there's her other cousin. The girl with a room full of antique dolls. The girl that shouldn't be there. The girl that died.”
If there is something I enjoy reading it’s a good horror story. This is definitely up their with one of the best I have read. It really gets into your head and puts you on edge. It is slightly predictable (or it might just be me as I find this a lot with books and films) but never the less its twisted and haunting!

Wild Boy and the Black Terror by Rob Lloyd Jones
“From London’s vilest slums to its grandest palaces, Wild Boy and Clarissa hunt a murderous poisoner in hope of proving themselves to a skeptical society. In the seedy underworld of Victorian London, a boy is born and abandoned. Snatched up by an unscrupulous and abusive showman, Wild Boy, covered in hair from head to toe, becomes a sideshow freak. Isolated from other children and wickedly abused by the cruel master who bought him, Wild Boy becomes an avid observer, developing Sherlock Holmes–like deductive skills.
This is the first book in the Wild Boy series, and it is aimed at children maybe more so then adults. However, as a teacher I make sure I read a range of children’s books to make sure I have fresh ideas for lessons and themes. Never the less this and the second book are really good, I read them both in 2 days and there are still 300+ pages. It was really easy going and there were a lot of twists and turns in the story, overall its beyond well written and if your looking for something lighter and easy going as a breather book (which I find essential if I’m planning on reading two hardcore books after each other) then this book is great.

If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch
“Carey is keeping a terrible secret. If she tells, it could destroy her future. If she doesn't, will she ever be free?
For almost as long as she can remember, Carey has lived in the heart of the woods with her drug-addicted mother and six-year-old sister, Jenessa. Their mother routinely disappears for weeks at a time, leaving the girls to cope alone. Survival is Carey's only priority - until strangers arrive and everything changes...
Now, I am more of the horror, action and adventure sort of girl. However, when this popped up on my radar I really wanted to give it a go, and OMG I am beyond happy I did! It was phenomenal! I really couldn’t put it down, it was fantastic, if you haven’t read this already then you need to now! You most definitely will not regret it.

Ambient Lighting.

Hourglass –
Ambient Bronzer

Ambient Bronzer is a new illuminating bronzer with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring bronze pigments that deliver a natural looking, sun kissed glow while flaunting depth and dimension.
Hourglass explain: “Ambient Bronzer’s sheer, airy formula sweeps softly onto skin for a healthy-looking, radiant finish. It’s formulated with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring optically transparent particles that transform the look of skin by manipulating and refracting light to emphasize your best features. The optically transparent particles allow for seamless blending and color transitions. The powders, blended by hand using an advanced miscelare technique, offer the perfect balance of pigments in a gorgeous pattern. Use this bronzer alone, or paired with Ambient Lighting Powder for maximum control to create depth and dimension—or even use it for a subtle contouring effect.”
The newest addition to the Ambient Lighting range is bronzer–just in time for summer–and is available in two shades. The formula is marketed as combining the “illuminating effects” of their signature Ambient Lighting powders with “bronze pigments” to give a “natural, sun-kissed glow.” It’s supposed to have “buildable color and a radiant finish” with a “sheer, airy” feel. This bronzer looks phenomenal! It comes in two shades, radiant bronze which is described as a “warm bronze shade fused with Radiant Light.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, yellow undertones and a soft, golden shimmer-sheen finish and luminous bronze which s described as a “medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light.” It’s a muted, medium tan brown with warm, yellow undertones and a fine golden shimmer-sheen. This shade is supposed to be for ‘fair/light complexions’, as it gives a softer, candlelit warmth.

I really cant wait to swatch these in person, I can totally tell I’m going to fall in love with one of them, and I think they will be perfect for summer!

butter LONDON –
Patent Shine 10x Polish

So unless you have been living under a rock you will know butter LONDON is one of my favourite brands. The shades, application, lasting power and packaging are all amazing! Therefore I was beyond excited to find out that butter LONDON are actually releasing a range of new polishes, not only colours, but formula...what formula you ask...think patent!
The new polishes from butter LONDON claims to do an awful lot of things:
"New 10-in-1 formula! Fierce colour sparks a revolution with Patent Shine 10X. Ten years ago butter LONDON transformed the nail space with the original 3-free lacquer and we’re doing it again! Our new innovative formula is loaded with ingredients proven to promote brighter, stronger, healthier nails in classic, creamy, wearable shades for your best-dressed nails yet. The patented Shock Resisting Polymer Technology delivers limitless shine with up to 10 days of wear. It’s everything you need in on brilliant bottle!"
The packaging looks pretty much like that of the original Nail Lacquers, except with a silver cap. The bottles are the same size (11 mL) but the price is higher than the original 3 Free Nail Lacquers. The 14 new shades are all cremes and, while they seem fashion-forward, they also aren’t looking particularly unique. I guess I’ll have to see these in person or when someone gets round to watching them online to see what they're really like colour wise! Mostly I’m really interested to see how the formula is, since I think the original BL formula is great. I love nail polish, especially when it comes to spring/summer, therefore I'm beyond excited to try this out and see how good they are!
