Recently I have really loved curly hair. Personally, I think curly hair suits me better then straight, however sometimes I just cant be bothered to curl it or if I haven’t got my mums straighteners its really hard to do it with my straighteners because of how thick they are. Therefore I decided to treat myself (because I have finished my dissertation) to a new curler, but not any old curling wand but the BaByliss Pro Perfect Curl. Trust me, this curler is all singing all dancing and is beyond amazing!

So basically this is a new way to curl hair. Some people love curling tongs and swear by them but personally I have always found them a bit fiddly to use. That was why I was so happy to discover the Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl. It is a hair tool that curls hair in a quick and easy way. You place your hair in the contraption, wait a few seconds and then it comes out the other end curly.
This is the professional version of the Curl Secret, and has more features. It is aimed at professionals but is also popular with people at home.

It is slightly more expensive then the retail Curl Secrets version, however I read on blogs that a few people had trouble getting their hair stuck in the retail Curl Secrets version. However, this pro version has an automatic release that means your hair cant get stuck.
This little beauty has so many features, but is actually really simple to use. It has 3 Heat Settings 190, 210 & 230 degrees, 3 Timer Settings 8,10 & 12 seconds, 1 Timer free setting and 3 Curl direction settings which are forward, backwards and alternate between the two. I usually use the alternative setting for everyday use which give a more natural look, however if I’m wanting to pin my hair up then I use the specific forwards and backwards setting so that its easier to pin afterwards. The really nice thing about this device is that the heat device is sealed inside the barrel so it is virtually impossible to burn your hands or arms unlike a wand or tong.
In terms of hair length, it works best on medium and long hair. It can be used on short hair but I am not sure that the effect is so obvious. The actual curl secret is slightly heavier than conventional curling tools but not so heavy that you have to put it down every five minutes.
To get the most out of this device and avoid frustration you will need to read the manual. It is worth taking the time to figure out how to use it effectively, which means getting used to how to use it, and playing with the settings to get the curls you want. Trust me, I have never read a manual in my life, however for this I thought it was best to do so just so I knew exactly what I was doing. Trust me, it makes life so much easier, and the desired effect so much faster.
From the reviews I have read online and my own experience of using the Babyliss Pro Curl, it creates stunning curls from top to bottom. If you put it on a higher setting curls can last all day long and give your hair a fantastic bounce. This is also good for women with thick hair who have had trouble curling their hair in the past, and for women with fine hair who find their curls usually drop within an hour (which mine used to do when using a curling wand).
The downside for this product is that it is a lot more expensive than conventional curlers and its retail alternative. This does retail for £130, which is really expensive but it’s definitely worth it, however it can be hard to find if you’re not in the hair or beauty trade. For anyone wanting the retail version (Curl Secret), which is easier to get hold of, then it retails for £120.

Overall, once you get the hang of it, it is really simple to use and gives you a great head of curls that last. It is also a lot of fun experimenting with it to create different curls. If you can afford it, then the Pro Curl is a brilliant device.
