Urban Decay -
Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation
So many new and
amazing things from Urban Decay recently! This post is all about the brand
new Naked Skin Ultra Definition
Powder Foundation. It can be used wet or dry and promises amazing, long
lasting coverage.
“Want a foundation that delivers amazing coverage, lasts
all day and works both wet AND dry? Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder
Foundation delivers. Our advanced, velvety formula provides weightless, build-able coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish for a Naked Skin feel.
While some
traditional powder foundations might look dusty or even cakey on the skin,
Naked Skin blends gorgeously and wears comfortably. Like the rest of our Naked
Skin line up, Naked Skin Powder Foundation diffuses light to blur fine lines
and wrinkles to make you look as if professionally retouched. It’s also
ultra-forgiving: apply more in the areas where you need extra coverage and all
you’ll see is beautiful, perfected skin.
Enriched with
coated, micro-milled powders and HPP (Highlighter Performing Pigments)
technology, Naked Skin Powder Foundation has a creamy feel, rich, long-lasting
colour, and a perfect level of coverage to even out the look of your skin tone.”

So overall it promises to:
last 8 hours, be weightless but build-able coverage, create a luminous
demi-matte finish, give a creamy feel which is neither dry, dusty or cakey,
easily blend able and diffuses light to blur fine lines, wrinkles and
imperfections. We can all agree this is one mighty list of promises. Never the
less…it does pretty much every one of them!
So, this new foundation comes in a
gunmetal compact with a purple flowery pouch to protect it. Inside you will
find the powdery foundation, large mirror and an application sponge, which is
dual-sided – use the cushion-y side to apply it and the flocked side for
buffing and blending. It works both wet and dry and is long-lasting, weightless
and build-able with a demi-matte coverage. The micro-milled powder has a
slightly creamy feel to it and it helps blur unwanted fine lines, hide pores
and even out skin tone. It comes in 14 shades from Fair Cool to Medium Light Warm
to Deep Neutral.
Now you all may know my love of
Diors Forever Powder Foundation, however every time I have bought it, within a
month or two it shatters and then it just become a mess. When I first saw this
foundation I’ll admit, I was like “ugh, another powder foundation that won’t
work that great on me.” A lot of times I find that these either don’t have
enough coverage or are way too powdery/chalky/matte looking.
As I mentioned above it’s a demi-matte finish powder
that seems to be “thing” and trend for Spring at the moment. L’Oreal currently
has a new Infallible Foundation with a demi-matte finish so I suspect you’ll
see more and more products sporting the finish as we head deeper into Spring.
Demi-matte simply means that it has a finish that isn’t dry or flat in
appearance and looks more natural and seamless than a drier, full matte powder
would. The finish almost translates to the texture of the powder itself as it
feels almost creamy and has a powdery texture that’s soft, finely milled, and
almost velvety when swatched and applied. I actually didn’t like the Ultra
Definition Pressed Finishing Powder because it felt too dry to me but I think
Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation has a lighter, more dry skin
friendly texture that won’t cling to drier areas when skin is prepped well.
I find the application is very light on skin
and barely they’re thus the “naked skin” name. It’s breathable coverage that
blurs the appearance of pores and gives skin a very smooth, even appearance.
The finish is beautiful as it looks and feels velvety but also natural. It
builds well but I wouldn’t say it quite reaches the medium coverage mark but
almost for sure! It’s the type of product that will wear nicely over tinted moisturiser and sheerer BB Creams. Dry it applies very well on my skin! No issue
with it clinging to dry areas and it mattifies my t-zone nicely. Wet, it
applies even better and provides more coverage so it does tip right into medium
coverage. When it’s wet it takes on a creamy, tinted moisturiser-like feel as
you apply and looks even more natural and seamless however, using it wet
without setting powder shortens the wear by an hour or two. Worn dry I can get
about six hours of wear, worn wet (not set) I’m looking at around four hours.
Overall, I’m still working out how best to use this, but
never the less no matter which way you use it, wet or dry, its really nice!
