Burberry –
Gold (No. 25) Complete Eye Palette
Burberry is a brand that I haven’t ever
been dawn to neither make up or clothing wise. However, this Christmas my
boyfriend treated me to this beautiful palette and it truly fell in love. The Burberry Complete Eye Palette in Gold (No. 25) is a new, limited edition eye shadow palette released as
part of Burberry's Gold Collection for Holiday 2014. Everything in this collection is encased in
the festive and stunning gold packaging instead of their usual, gunmetal
finish. I personally think this is one of the most beautiful eye shadow palette
I have ever used and here’s why…
Firstly we
will start with the packaging. The palette and 3 mini brushes are housed in this
black velvet-folding pouch with the Burberry check on it. Unfold the pouch and
you will find a large pocket for the eye palette compact and three little
pockets for the applicator brushes. The inside has a plastic lining so
you can easily clean it up with a damp cloth. The compact itself is in the
limited edition, very festive, gold packaging - even the outer box packaging
does too. The compact lid is covered in the iconic Burberry check as usual and
underneath the lid is a handy mirror. I didn’t expect myself to love the packaging,
as much as I actually do, it feels so solid, expensive and well made! I personally love that it comes
with three mini applicator brushes: a natural-hair blending brush, a sponge tip
for dabbing on the eye shadows, and a synthetic eyeliner brush. They’re really
good quality and makes going from day to night so much easier without having to
carry loads of different brushes round with you. These are significantly longer
than the usual applicators that are provided in other brands' compacts.
The eye palette includes dark brown, khaki gold,
antique gold, and pewter beige. The quality is consistently high across all
four eye shadows: richly pigmented, soft and silky textures, and long-wear. I’m
loving Burberry’s take on gold, as there is no true, yellow gold here, only
variations on the theme. It is a warmer-toned set of shades, all are shimmery, and
so it may not work for everyone. If you tend to like your warm, shimmery shades
with a gold twist, you may fall in love. I personally have. These were just the
type of eye shadows that felt like they applied and blended themselves–no fuss
at all.
(1,2,3,4)
Gold #1 is a light, muted gold with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had nice pigmentation with a soft, buttery texture that was beautifully blended on the skin.
Gold #2 is a warmer, light-medium antique gold with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good colour payoff with a soft, blend able texture that was easy to work with.
Gold #3 is a golden khaki-brown with a frosted finish and warm undertones. It had a very soft, finely milled consistency that can be a tiny bit powdery if you aren’t careful. The pigmentation is excellent!
Gold #4 is a rich, medium-dark brown with a pearly sheen. It had great colour payoff with a soft, blend able texture that is very easy to use.
Overall
this palette is undoubtedly a must-have from all the recent
holiday makeup releases. The texture, pigmentation and wear time are excellent.
All the colours work beautifully together and the subtle, subdued,
understated earthy colours that help to enhance your natural features effortlessly. The olive-toned beige
eye shadow adds interest and uniqueness to the overall look. The gold eye
shadow is stunning and the frosty finishes make the colours a little more
special for the holiday season, and at the same time make them perfect for the
autumn/winter.
Price wise this isn't the cheapest palette one the market, it retails for £40 which some people will be a bit put of by, however even if it wasn't a present I would still have bought it. Its truly beautiful!
